Former Atlanta Fire Chief Kelvin Cochran claims he was fired because of his faith. 
According to Fox News, Cochran had wanted to be a firefighter since he was five years old, eventually becoming fire chief in 2008 and a fire administrator to the Obama Administration in 2009.
Cochran returned to his position as chief in 2010, but now his long career is coming to a sudden stop because of a book he wrote for his Baptist Bible study class called Who Told You That You Were Naked? The book covers biblical morality and contained passages condemning homosexuality. It also earned Cochran a 30-day suspension from the department in November.

J.K. Rowling challenges Rupert Murdoch's Muslim blame game.

       



     

(CNN)Media mogul Rupert Murdoch is drawing widespread criticism for saying Muslims must be held responsible for last week's terror attacks in France.

But one of his more famous detractors is getting just as much attention for challenging his logic.

The News Corp. CEO ignited controversy on Friday with a series of tweets about Islam and jihad. He started with the tweet, "Maybe most Moslems peaceful, but until they recognize and destroy their growing jihadist cancer they must be held responsible."

NY mother chokes daughter during school visit.

     

     

A Staten Island woman was arrested Thursday after she choked her 12-year-old daughter in front of school officials.
According to the NY Daily News, Bintu Fofanah arrived at the Lavelle School after receiving a call from school administrators, who said her daughter was not wearing the school uniform.
The 36-year-old got into an argument with the girl and repeatedly punched, slapped and choked her.

Judge could end feud between Dr. King’s children over his bible, Nobel Peace Prize medal.

      
     

ATLANTA (AP) — The Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s traveling Bible hasn’t gone on regular display since President Barack Obama used it while taking his second oath of office two years ago. The public hasn’t seen the slain civil rights icon’s 1964 Nobel Peace Prize medal in recent years, either.
Both relics reside in a safe deposit box, the keys held since March by an Atlanta judge presiding over the latest — and in many eyes, the ugliest — fight between King’s heirs.
The Estate of Martin Luther King Jr. Inc., which is controlled by Martin Luther King III and his younger brother, Dexter Scott King, asked a judge a year ago to order their sister Bernice to turn over their father’s Nobel medal and traveling Bible. The brothers want to sell them to a private buyer.

Ringleader in FAMU band hazing death receives sentence.

    

   

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — A former Florida A&M University band member has been sentenced to more than six years in prison for manslaughter and felony hazing in the death of a drum major.
Dante Martin becomes the first of 15 former band members charged to receive prison time
In Orlando on Friday, Judge Renee Roche sentenced him to a total of 77 months on Friday. Prosecutors wanted nine years for Martin in the beating death of 26-year-old Robert Champion during a brutal hazing ritual.
Martin was convicted in October during a trial in which prosecutors said he was the ringleader of the ritual.
He was the first to stand trial in the 2011 death of Champion, who was from Decatur, Georgia.

Trans woman accused of injecting glue and Fix-A-Flat into women’s butts may remain jailed.

      

     

Ron Oneal Morris, a transgender woman in Florida, is facing multiple counts of practicing medicine without a license and one count of manslaughter for injecting women with “super glue,” Fix-a-Flat and rubber cement.
Morris has been under scrutiny since 2011, when she illegally injected a woman with her mixture for $700. The injections, which Morris has used on women for buttocks, hips, thighs, and waists, were sealed with super glue and cotton balls. She has just recently served a nearly one-year sentence for practicing medicine without a license.

George Zimmerman strikes again! What do his defenders have to say now?

    


     

It really doesn’t come as a shock to hear that George Zimmerman’s distorted world view and temper have resulted in yet another criminal charge.
Late Friday evening, Zimmerman was arrested and booked on charges of aggravated assault and is currently out on $5,000 bond. He has been ordered to stay out of Volusia County and away from the alleged female victim and to surrender any firearms. Police officials have yet to release the full details surrounding the incident; however, at this point, one must wonder who couldn’t have seen this pattern coming?
The answer is pundits like Bill O’Reilly, who found no fault in Zimmerman’s pathology at the time of his acquittal.

Rapper Kevin Gates reveals he’s having sex with his cousin, doesn’t care.

       

     

Louisiana rapper Kevin Gates says a lot of things on his Instagram page.
But none of his 1.3 million followers were expecting his announcement from earlier this week: Gates is sleeping with his cousin.
Gates revealed the news in an Instagram video, telling his followers he had been sleeping with this woman for 3 months and recently found out he was related to her.
Gates was made aware of the pair’s family ties from his grandmother.
“I’m not about to stop,” Gates insisted.
